What’s your top tip to be successful in life?
The Bible does not use the word success frequently, but there is a verse that defines God’s way of success. Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” God’s conditions for success are laid out right here in this one verse. God says nothing about fat bank accounts, vacation homes, and all the possessions you want. He simply says the way to success is meditating on His truth and doing it. That simple!
We have a tendency to complicate God’s way. Often, the reason for that is we don’t want to obey. It’s easier to talk about how difficult it is than to attempt to do it.
If you want success, you can flounder around doing your own thing which will often cause you unnecessary heartache. Or you can choose God’s way and find the inner fulfillment of knowing you’ve done the right thing, even if it was the high road. Having been one who has taken the low road and lived to regret it, I’ll take God’s path to success. The world may not like, but they don’t have to. As the old hymn writer wrote, “I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause.” I’ve got Jesus, and He’s all I need!
