What is your mission?
Why do I live? Why do I do what I do? Is there a purpose for me getting up every morning? Is there more to this life than my personal satisfaction? Can I ever truly be satisfied? These are questions we must answer. If we don’t answer them, life will appear pointless until we discover the answers to these questions.
It honestly took me many years before I had a good answer to these questions. I accepted Christ when I was 6 years old, but I didn’t understand my purpose for almost another 10 years. Even then, I fought the temptation of doing spiritual things because of the satisfaction and affirmation it brought me rather than the glory it brings to the Lord. It took years to get my motives right.
Fast forward through some hard hits and humblings. Today, I simply want people to know Jesus Christ. When I say that, I don’t mean on a surface level. I’m not just talking about people simply knowing Him as a free pass to Heaven. For the Clemson fans in my region, I’m taking about being “all in” for Christ.
The Apostle Paul put it this way in Philippians 3 – “that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings.” Sounds appealing, doesn’t it? Not really! The first part does. Most all of us would sign up for the power of His resurrection. We like power. But to sign up to know Christ in the fellowship of His sufferings, most of us would take a pass. We don’t want to suffer. It would be much easier to know Christ in theory than to go through hardships to know Him better.
Some people have had a hard time with my preaching through the years. Regretfully, I went through the stage of trying to preach what is cool. That produced NO fruit in the lives of the people listening. For the last 5 years especially, I have called people out to truly follow Christ on the day to day. To truly be His disciples. To live out what it means to truly follow Him.
I want the same for my readers here. Yes, I write random things based on the daily WordPress prompts. Yes, I air my opinions on various topics. At the end of the day, I want to connect with you and walk alongside you, equipping you to walk with Jesus.
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I would love to help you experience that. May God help you know Him in a rich and meaningful way.
