Transparency from the heart of a pastor

My Man Cave

You get to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?

Let’s just go ahead and clear the air. I don’t have a man cave. I know what most people think about man caves. Mine might be semi-stereotypical, but it would be much like a prayer cabin at The Potter’s Place in Central, SC (a town, not the middle of the state).

Prayer cabins at The Potter’s Place typically have a porch with a rocking chair and a bench. Inside the one-room cabin is enough space for a recliner, a small desk, another chair, and a quiet space to hang out with the Lord. It’s my favorite place in the world!

This place is nestled in the woods. It’s perfect for unplugging and reading, writing, praying, and blocking out the world. My perfect “man cave” for reading and writing would mirror a Potter’s Place prayer cabin. Until I have my own, I will settle for the regular 25-minute drive to get there.
