I wish today’s blog prompt would have been about the day I was born so I could break out into the lyrics of “Bad to the Bone”. You would have to be at least as old as I am or older to get the joke. We can’t always get what we want, lol.
The year I was born was 1980. This just so happened to be a presidential election year. Ronald Reagan was running against incumbent Jimmy Carter. The race and outcome are rather memorable. I’m not here to stir up Republicans and Democrats alike, but that was the year that Ronald Reagan won the election and would ultimately serve two terms as President of the United States.
I also know this was the year John Lennon, well known as one of the singers for The Beatles, was assassinated. This sent a shockwave through many.
The 1980s were a much simpler time. It was great to grow up then. People had more morals, sitcoms actually had a lesson, and the music sounded more like music (with some exceptions).
