Is your life today what you pictured a year ago?
A year ago, I was just getting started in the church I serve. God had opened up my first full-time church ministry opportunity in 11 years, and I was beyond excited. If you would have told me then that the pastor would retire and the church would vote on an adoption by a larger church a year later, I would not have believed it. But that’s what is happening.
Today, I prepare for yet another new season of ministry. Here’s the thing – God used this current season more than any other to prepare me for the next one! That’s just like God! Would I have signed up for the roller coaster I ended up on? Likely not! But I’ve met some wonderful people, some of whom I believe will be lifelong friends. I’ve had some good times.
Now I get to make new memories. I get to serve the Lord in a different way. The road to get here has been bumpy and tough, but the destination is desired. I’m probably more excited about ministry now than I’ve been in a long time. There is no tangible reason to believe that people will beat down my door to ask me to preach, but I know without a doubt this is what God has for me in the next season.
While I’m saying a big NO about the blog prompt, I know God writes better stories than I do. He uses the pains, the joys, the struggles, and everything in between to shape us and make us more like Jesus. That makes it worth it all!
