Movies and Music

What makes you feel nostalgic?

Nostalgia…I love it! I love warm, fuzzy memories of days gone by! There are sights, sounds, and smells that trigger good memories. The two things that make me feel most nostalgic are movies and music.

Let’s talk about movies or TV programs for just a minute. I can still hear the theme song to “The Golden Girls” and my mind goes back to laying on my couch as a teenage boy watching reruns and hearing the sound of the AC window unit running in the background and feeling the breeze from the ceiling fan. I didn’t have a care in the world in that moment. That theme song still takes me back to that moment.

Now on to music not related to TV! I can still hear a Sam Cooke song, and my mind goes back to my childhood when the rain would pour down and either hit the awnings of our house while the windows were open or hitting one of my dad’s Ford pickup trucks while we went down the road.

I could give many more examples, but these memories are sweet and precious to me. These were simpler times when the cares of the world had not weighed me down. While I long for those moments again, I cherish the memories they bring.
