Crazy Prayers

Have you ever prayed for a particular thing or in a particular way, only to stop and think that it is crazy? Been there and done that! Many times! As a pastor, I pray brave and bold prayers that are far beyond man’s ability.

The Bible contains many prayers. Some people may read those prayers and think that it was okay for Paul or some other servant of God to pray. What is wrong with us praying these same prayers if they are genuine. I’m not talking about going through a repetitious ritual. I am talking about truly praying these things from your heart to the Lord.

In 2001, I was introduced to the prayer of Jabez. Only two verses of Scripture mention this individual, but he prayed a powerful prayer. First Chronicles 4:10 reads, “Jabez called out to the God of Israel: ‘If only You would bless me, extend my border, let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not cause any pain.’ And God granted his request.”

You may read this prayer and think, “What is so crazy about this prayer?” Jabez is asking God to expand his influence. This is a prayer of vision. The thing God asks in return is, “Can I trust you with more territory? Will you be faithful in the little things? If so, then I will expand your territory.”

Whatever stage you may find yourself, don’t lose hope. Don’t get up the vision God put within you. Let it be stirred and challenged. Dream big. Pray big. Then watch God honor that prayer as you obey the steps He lays out for you. Now it’s time to do some more crazy praying!

  1. I have prayed that prayer for myself and for my husband and myself. Now with our upcoming move, this is a good reminder. Boldly asking the Lord to use us in our new area either in the ministry of setting captives free or some other ministry He has for us. We speak “ Here we are Lord, use us. “

  2. Good idea! I love to pray the prayers Jesus He said while He was on the Earth. “Yet not my will, but yours be done.” (NIV). It models God’s ultimate will to be done in my life. I like that Jabez prayer as well. 🙂

      1. Cool. Yes, Jesus prayed with such honesty and authority. I would like to pray with more authority, for sure.

  3. I believe hands down, spirits up, and soul soaring in the power of prayer. I was gone in the worst way and no matter what our family tried to do, the hole of life just kept getting deeper and deeper and us more lost in its depth. But through it all, my spiritual spark was lit and I held tight to the Good Lord, praying continually for aid and assistance in my plight.

At one point, I felt compelled by God to create a Magic Ticket that would get me out of my problems. On it I wrote everything I needed to lead a happy life along with the basic material necessities of modern living. Within 1 month of writing the ticket, my family was returned to me. Within 3 months of the Ticket’s Creation I was invited to better living accommodations (from a house without running water, electric, or heat). Within six months, I was granted a miracle that gave me our own place to stay with little fear for material needs.

Truthfully, I am living proof of God’s Magic in the Life of a Crazily Devout Follower. Please don’t give up on your belief in prayers. Miracles happen all the time. I think they begin when you let go of the belief that God blesses you in substantial ways and start leaning on the ways you are already blessed beyond belief. When you start to see the world through the lens of God’s Abundant Blessings before you, time passes quickly and it opens up the way to profound miracles that almost defy explanation manifesting within your ability to witness.

And I think I touched on the biggest component of God’s Magic – TIME. Time must pass before magic can happen. I believe in my insane way that each and every day you must sow the prayer magic into the belief that the miracle could happen to allow for God’s Will to be done in your life. Laying down your will in favor of the insane belief that the miracle you are hoping for will be the miracle God shall bless you with.

I don’t know, I could go on about crazy prayers for a long time. Because I am constantly praying some pretty crazy things. Like for World Peace and Restoration of Humanity’s Good Will towards God and The End of War and Famine and Plagues and God Building Heaven on Earth. My mind is out there but I believe if you believe hard enough, God can make anything happen.

      1. Amen to the blessings of my family. My wish is that I can share the abundance of my life with others in their journeys. So they might see how very similar our blessings are and get one step closer to praising the wonders of miracles manifesting in life.
